Programme Education Objectives (PEO)

PEO1: To enable students to analyze and solve mechanical engineering and allied problems applying basic principle of sciences and engineering for achieving immediate career opportunities.
PEO2: To nurture the students with innovative and research practices augmented by professional and soft skills.
PEO3: To inculcate sense of ethical, social and environmental responsibilities for conducting their professional activities.
PEO4: To enable students to recognize the importance of and engage in lifelong learning process.

Programme Outcomes (PO)

After successful completion of B.E. Mechanical Engineering Program students will be able to:
1 Engineering Knowledge Acquire and apply fundamental knowledge of mathematics, science and mechanical engineering principles.
2 Problem analysis Identify, formulate, review literature and analyze mechanical engineering problems in order to get the desired solution using first principles of mathematics, natural science and engineering science.
3 Design/ Development of solutions Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science and mechanical engineering fundamentals in designing and evaluating system components, processes and systems related to mechanical engineering to meet the specified needs.
4 Conduct Investigation of Complex Problems Use research based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data and synthesis of information to provide valid conclusions.
5 Modern Tool usage Select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern mechanical engineering software and tools for modeling engineering activities with understanding of the limitations.
6 Engineer and society Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the mechanical engineering.
7 Environment and sustainability Understand the impact of the professional engineering solution in environmental contexts and demonstrate the knowledge of and need for sustainable development.
8 Ethics To understand ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities.
9 Individual and team work Function effectively as a member or leader in diverse teams and in multidisciplinary settings.
10 Communication Communicate effectively in the activities with the engineering community and for society at large in order to comprehend and write effective reports, design documentation, make effective presentations and give or receive clear instructions.
11 Project management and finance Demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of engineering and management principles and apply these while working as a member and / or leader in a team to manage projects in multidisciplinary environment.
12 Life – Long Learning Recognize the need for and acquire the ability to engage in independent and lifelong learning in context of technological change.

PSOs (Program Specific Outcomes)

After successful completion of B.E. Mechanical Engineering Program students will be able to:
1 Design a mechanical system, component or process to meet the desired needs within the realistic constraints by optimum resource utilizations in economic, environmental, social, health & safety and manufacturability.
2 Design and conduct experiment to analyze and interpret data in different areas of mechanical engineering and interdisciplinary problems with existing professional practices.
3 Use of state of the art technique, skills, various standards for mechanical profession.
